Hello again

drupal.pngThis is probably hello again to you visitor. You may have noticed some things have changed on this website. A short list

  • Drupal is now running this site instead of nucleuscms
  • a lot of resources on this site don't work anymore
  • I'm writing in English

As this movement is a work in progress, for the next couple of weeks I will be fixing errors, adding features to the site, restoring old resources that are still being used etc.
It was time not only to change the engine, it was time as well to restructure my web directory on the disk. It contained clutter of 6 years of hosting a website. So for the next weeks I will follow the errorlogs of apache and restore what still is in demand.
If you read this website by RSS / Atom, your links will be forwarded to this website so you get your irregular doses of my ramblings.
Why this move you might ask. Well for no apparent reason other then it was time for something new. My nucleus install was getting old, it was hacked-up by me and I wasn't interested in it anymore. I knew which line of code contained the functions that I could use, rewrite or amend. There was no challenge anymore, the only real challenge left was writing new content for my website. But since I did not develop anymore the flow of content became less and less. For my work I started to use Drupal on a couple of sites. And so far it has not let me down. It a lot bigger then Nucleus, it has the same amount of unreliable plugins only in Drupal we call them modules. But i've worked with a couple of CMS's and they all desert you in the end when it comes to some detail. So Drupal is just as good as any and it learns a lot faster when your own website is powered by the same engine as the one powering your professional sites.
As for the English, well that's an experiment. If it will gain me readers, joy or anything else I will continue to do so, but that doesn't mean I won;t write any Dutch anymore. Like i said, it's an experiment.
The design is far from done. I'm still creating an header image, some css still gives me the wrong colours, that's the price you pay when you redesign an existing theme instead of starting from scratch.
The blocks in the footer are also experiments. Don't expect them to be there forever, I will start writing my own modules pretty soon I guess and they just might start showing something in the footer.
Everything that was once written on my Nucleus site has been imported last night. Most went well, still resolving some issues with the Tags and the order of the comments.

Hmm every month I visited this website and now I see all those changes... The funny thing is that my blog is also running nucleus and to this date I'm keeping this system. I've done some site's with drupal, but for a blogsite it was to much, to complicated, to good to use it only for a stupid blogsite.

I just wanted to comment your blog and say that I really enjoyed reading your blog post here. It was very informative and I also like the way you write!

Keep up the good work you are doing, and I will be back again in the near future.
